ATLANTA (January 29, 2016) – Georgia Aquarium received a $15,000 grant from the Ford Motor Company Fund that will allow over 1,100 students to visit the Aquarium. This is the fifth year the Ford Motor Company Fund has provided financial support for the Aquarium’s Sponsored Education Admissions (SEA) Program.

The Ford Motor Company Fund’s repeated donation to the SEA Program provides students, who may never have had the opportunity to do so, with the chance to learn about the aquatic world. The SEA Program provides individuals, corporations, and foundations with a way to donate funds to allow students to explore the Aquarium and participate in an educational experience.

In order for a school be eligible for the Ford Motor Company Fund scholarship program, 25 percent or more of the student body must qualify for free and reduced lunch services. The school also must be located within 5 miles of a Ford or Lincoln dealership. Since the scholarship’s inception in 2011, a total of 8,846 students have benefited from Ford Motor Company Fund’s generosity.

“A donation like this is so impactful because it goes directly to providing students with meaningful learning experiences,” said Kristyn Tumbleson, director of education for Georgia Aquarium. “I see learning come alive every day for students thanks to community partners like the Ford Motor Company Foundation.”

The Ford Motor Company Fund began operations in 1949, and has invested approximately $1.5 billion into organizations around the world. The company focuses its efforts on three main areas: community life, education and safety. The Ford Motor Company Fund can be found on the web at To visit Ford news, visit
