ATLANTA (May 5, 2016) – Georgia Aquarium and Georgia-Pacific have announced the official launch of its STEAM Forward video series. The launch will kick off with an exclusive screening at Georgia STEM Day on May 6 at Georgia Aquarium.

Students will see behind the scenes and what career paths are possible at Georgia Aquarium and Georgia-Pacific. They will also see how science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) are incorporated into these careers at each organization. Viewers will also get a unique perspective of how Aquarium experts care for and protect the animals both within and outside its walls.

“Georgia Aquarium is proud to offer this free classroom resource to educators with its STEAM Forward video series in partnership with Georgia-Pacific,” said Kristyn Tumbleson, director of education at Georgia Aquarium. “The importance of our future generations learning about science, technology, engineering, arts, and math is so crucial. We are happy to incorporate that into educating students about the aquatic world and inspiring them even further with this free video initiative.”

The first episodes of STEAM Forward are available online for free, and future episodes will be made available as they premiere in August of this year. Educators are encouraged to use this free resource as a learning tool in their own classrooms and inspire curiosity and intrigue about our one world ocean and potential career paths involving STEAM.

“At Georgia-Pacific we believe that STEAM fields are part of building a competitive workforce and fostering innovation,” said Georgia-Pacific Foundation President Curley Dossman. “The earlier we can inspire young people to pursue these career possibilities the better, so we’re proud to highlight our Georgia-Pacific jobs in the STEAM Forward series.”

To catch an exclusive screening of STEAM Forward and new episodes, come celebrate Georgia STEM Day on May 6 at Georgia Aquarium from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. There will be Atrium activities, and in addition to the screenings, a special question and answer session with those featured in the episodes.
