ATLANTA (September 17, 2015) - Georgia Aquarium’s tenth annual Aqua Vino event will be hosted by celebrity chef, author and television personality Alton Brown on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 7 – 10 p.m. The annual autumn event features more than 200 exotic wines from around the globe, hors d'oeuvres from over 30 of Atlanta’s most popular restaurants, live music, access to the Aquarium’s five galleries, a sneak peek behind-the-scenes of Georgia Aquarium’s world-class facilities, silent and live auctions and a keepsake Aqua Vino wine glass.

Marking its tenth year, the benefit’s VIP tickets will include red carpet arrival (beginning at 6 p.m.), valet parking and an hour-long meet-and-greet with celebrity foodie Alton Brown. Brown is best known for his roles on Food Network’s Good Eats, Iron Chef America, The Next Food Network Star and most recently, Cutthroat Kitchen. VIP tickets will also include access to exclusive sips and bites in the VIP lounge.

Georgia Aquarium’s Aqua Vino event proceeds benefit the not-for-profit’s research and conservation efforts; this year’s funds will go toward initiatives involving the Southern sea otter. While sea otters are wildly popular with humans thanks to their playful personalities, they are endangered according to the International Conservation of Nature List (IUCN). Only 25 percent of sea otter pups survive their first year in the wild. Environmental factors such as habitat degradation and predators like white sharks pose ongoing challenges for sea otter survival.

“Funds from our supporters make critical programs, like our 4R program, possible,” said Mike Leven, Georgia Aquarium Chairman and CEO. “Georgia Aquarium resident otters Bixby, Brighton and Crux, rescued in 2010, would not be with us today if it was not for the support of our engaged community of animal-lovers, like those that lend support each year at Aqua Vino – the proceeds are life-giving for these animals and for their surrounding marine habitats.”

Tickets for the grand tasting are $125 for members and $150 for non-members. VIP Tasting tickets are $300 for members and $325 for non-members. Event attendees must be 21 years of age. To purchase tickets or learn more about Aqua Vino, presented by SunTrust, call (404) 581-4000 or visit
