The safety and care of our animals and staff is our top priority. Currently, a skeleton crew will be staying overnight to care for our animals and the facility during this powerful weather from Hurricane Irma. Staff are comprised of members from our animal care, veterinary, life support systems, and others. These teams will continue the exceptional care all of our animals receive each and every day – even in significant weather.
Georgia Aquarium will close early today, Monday, Sept. 11 at 1pm as Hurricane Irma prepares to impact the Atlanta area. The Dolphin Celebration and Under the Boardwalk sea lion presentations are cancelled for Monday, Sept. 11.
At this time, Georgia Aquarium plans to delay opening on Tuesday, Sept. 12 to 11am. We will continue to monitor the storm and make further assessments as needed. Stay tuned to Georgia Aquarium’s Facebook page or news.georgiaaquarium.org for updates as we have them.
