Marineland Dolphin Adventure Monitoring Hurricane Matthew

MARINELAND, FLA (October 4, 2016) 6 p.m. - We are closely monitoring the progress and path of Hurricane Matthew. Based on the projected path of the storm and the hurricane and tropical storm watches issued for the state of Florida, Marineland Dolphin Adventure will be closing on Friday, Oct. 6, for the safety of our staff and guests. While we do have evacuation plans that vary based on each storm’s severity and projected paths, in most tropical weather cases the dolphins will remain secure and safe in their habitats.

Marineland Dolphin Adventure has a comprehensive weather plan that ensures the safety of our guests, employees and animals. These preparedness plans worked extremely well with previous storms, and we are confident that they will serve us well if needed.

We have an extensive list of precautionary measures based on the proximity and level of the storm. These safety procedures include:

  • securing all loose items throughout the property
  • ensuring we have additional food available for the animals and fuel for generators
  • devising a ride-out team of employees to monitor the animals and their habitats
