ATLANTA (March 7, 2016) – Georgia Aquarium will launch a new dolphin experience, AT&T Dolphin Celebration, on March 31. The new presentation is a high energy, fun and exciting experience that showcases dolphin behavior and their relationship with their trainers while incorporating important education messages.

AT&T Dolphin Celebration marks the first major change to the original AT&T Dolphin Tales since its launch in 2011 and is one of the many new features to open during the Aquarium’s 10th anniversary commemoration.

“We hope every guest takes away a deeper understanding and connection to these magnificent animals after experiencing AT&T Dolphin Celebration,” said Lisa Mignogna, director of zoological operations and dolphin training. “This high energy educational demonstration highlights the relationships we have developed with each dolphin and the training processes that help us provide exceptional care every day.”

The new presentation will focus on the beauty, grace, athleticism, and intelligence of bottlenose dolphins. This will be demonstrated through a variety of new behaviors that focus on each individual characteristic.

Georgia Aquarium is also at the forefront of research on bottlenose dolphins and how their health relates to the health of humans. Georgia Aquarium and its partners collaborate on the Health and Environmental Risk Assessment (HERA) under a federal permit each year to conduct health exams on wild dolphins in Florida’s Indian River Lagoon. This research has led to revolutionary new discoveries that impact our oceans and aquatic life.

Preparations for the premiere have been in place for several months. The original AT&T Dolphin Tales show completed its 4,618th and final show on Jan. 3, 2016. Guests have been able to experience a temporary training session, Splash 101, and see firsthand how trainers and dolphins have been preparing for the opening of the new presentation.
