ATLANTA (MARCH 18, 2016) – Georgia Aquarium welcomed 300 Great Clips salon managers to kick off a new partnership benefiting the Aquarium’s Veterans Immersion Program on Thursday, March 17. Great Clips’ president, Steve Hockett, was also in attendance at the event, held in Georgia Aquarium’s Oceans Ballroom.

Beginning March 17, Great Clips will be executing a cause marketing promotion across several salons to help raise support for the Aquarium’s Veterans Immersion Program. Salon customers will have the opportunity to donate $1 to the Veterans Immersion Program. Those who donate will receive $2 off their next haircut. There are currently 175 salons that will be participating in the partnership. Salons are located in Atlanta, Columbus, Ga., Thomasville, Ga., Valdosta, Ga., Savannah, Ga., Augusta, Ga., St. Simons Island, Ga., Birmingham, Ala., Auburn, Ala., Tallahassee, Fla., Bluffton S.C., Greenville, S.C., and Chattanooga, Tenn.

“This partnership with Great Clips is an excellent example of companies working together for a great cause, and we are very proud to help support the Aquarium’s Veterans Immersion Program,” said Hiroshi Okuda, director of sponsor relations at Georgia Aquarium. “The Aquarium is always looking to increase its community partnerships and is excited to be partnering with Great Clips on this initiative.”

Georgia Aquarium’s Veterans Immersion Program was established in 2008. To date, Georgia Aquarium has enabled more than 1,600 veterans to swim or dive alongside whale sharks, manta rays, and hundreds of other animals in the 6.3 million gallon Ocean Voyager Built by The Home Depot exhibit.

"Great Clips has always worked to strengthen the people and communities we serve, including a strong history of giving back to our country's veterans who gave so much," said Tammy Nienaber, director of communications at Great Clips. "The Aquarium's Veterans Immersion Program is a great way to support veterans, and we're happy to promote this initiative and raise funds for the cause."

Georgia Aquarium will also be partnering with Great Clips for their back-to-school promotion. Starting July 15 through August 30, customers who purchase a haircut at Great Clips will receive a voucher for Georgia Aquarium tickets for a discount price of $25 that can be redeemed in September and October of this year.
