For the past three years, Georgia Aquarium’s Water Quality Lab has been helping students from General Ray Davis Middle School design and execute environmentally focused science fair projects. Staff members met with students to discuss their interests before helping them choose a topic. After a topic was selected, our staff members guided them through the design and setup, and then assisted with testing for results as needed. Once the tests were complete, Georgia Aquarium staff continued to assist students as they finished their projects, by providing guidance as they wrote their papers and put together their display boards.

On May 4, 2017, 32 students were invited to Georgia Aquarium to meet with our scientists and receive feedback on their work. After the presentations, the Water Quality Lab staff provided Star Wars themed snacks to celebrate “May the Fourth Be With You,” and presented certificates to the students. Below is a letter sent to Georgia Aquarium from Caroline Snell, a Gifted Research teacher at General Ray Davis Middle School, thanking our staff for their participation and support of public education.
